HR Systems Strategy: Trends for 2009

Over the past decade we have witnessed a rapid expansion of the HR technology market both globally and locally here in the Asia Pacific. As the market has expanded, the organisational drivers for implementing HR technology have changed. Initially many organisations sought basic online learning functionality to minimise compliance risk and experiment with cost reduction through online learning delivery. Gradually these organisations have automated aspects of their performance appraisal processes and started looking for a central location to store information on hi-potential employees. The urge to do this has also been driven by an increasingly tight labour market. The vendors servicing this market have traditionally been able to exhibit capability in only one or two components of the overall HR process. As organisations have begun to think more strategically about managing and retaining their talent, vendors have responded by developing their products to offer more integrated and holistic talent management suites.
